About This Game

Signal Remnant is my first commercially developed squad-based, tactical RTS game. I started the project in March 2025 and am still developing it today. It draws inspiration from my favorite games like Kohan 2, Company of Heroes, and WH40K Dawn of War. This game uses a squad system for unit or troop management, and there are some elements of a build system and I drew the inspiration from Kohan 2 (one of my favorite RTS games). Development began in March 2025 and is still ongoing.
My first goal is to complete a demo version of this game so it can be introduced to gamers on multiple platforms.

World Design Concept

  • The world was once ruled by a civilization called "The Architects," who mastered beacon technology and magical instrument—a resonance-based communication and unit control device.
  • After a global collapse, only the remains of the beacons remain functional.
  • Players take on the role of a battalion commander tasked with searching for the final relic left by "The Architect," which is believed to be the key to rebuilding civilization.

Factions

  • Colony Reclaimers – Normal human, engineered by combined technlogy of science and magic
which was left by The Architec. They believe in the existence of a relic that will help them rebuild civilization.
  • Signalbound Swarm – Mutated creatures affected by corrupted beacon signals. A creature whose sole purpose is to devour all life.
  • The Null Order – The remaining human survivors, unaffected by the signal beacon, lack magical abilities and therefore cannot use Sigil technology. The goal is to erase all Sigil technology and the legacy of The Architect.

This week’s development has been all about two big things: 1. Fog of War ExperimentsI underestimated how much time this would take!I’ve been experimenting with different approaches to achieve smooth visibility edges while keeping performance reasonable. It’s been a lot of trial and error, tweaking shaders, and rethinking grid-based calculations. The system is now at…
